The MadeIt.com team is excited to announce the launch of Drinks 2.0, an event designed to bring together a mix of Bay Area entrepreneurs, investors, media and tech executives to network to have a few drinks with us at our offices…and of course, it’s on us. We’re teaming up with SF Hot House, a brand new tech incubator. We’ll be sending out invitations for this first event and are looking forward to building up Drinks 2.0 as a recurring celebration for the tech community…and it doesn’t hurt that we’re always looking for a good excuse to party. So come see us at our best…with drink in hand.

Hey everybody,

Sorry, have been MIA for the last couple weeks…been busy testing the site and adding some additional functional features to the site that we didn’t get to at by the Oct. 18th launch date. In addition, Halloween was crazy as expected and the MadeIt team did our fair share of party hosting. Steve and I headed down to San Diego on Friday night to host a party there…thanks go out to Mike, Hugo and crew for having an awesome party down there as well as all of the other sponsors of the party, including Rockstar limos which provided a personal stretch Hummer limo to shuttle guests around all night. Steve and I dressed as Maverick and Goose from the Top Gun volleyball scene (I was Maverick of course).

We headed back up to SF for another party hosted by us on Saturday night. Steve and I dressed as modern day pimps…basically just wearing suits plus an obnoxious $7.99 purple hat from Walgreens (that’s what your budget is when you’re a self-funded startup)…anyway, girls love guys toting Walgreens accessories, right?…that’s what I thought. We then capped off Halloween by hosting a party last Wednesday night at Gravity called “Halloween 1987″, it was an awesome time and was extremely packed.

Anyhow, we’ve been testing away and are gearing up for the Holiday season, so be on the lookout for an assortment of Thanksgiving Feast invites, Ugly Sweater Party invites, Bad Santa Party invites, Egg Nog-Induced Bad Decisions Party invites, and so on. I’ll keep you up to date with our progress. Until next time…

What’s up everybody,

Tom here…back in the office responding to a ton of emails and checking out the pics from our launch party last Thursday at Harlot. It was a great turnout and I thank you all who made it. We were slammed all last week getting the site up and running before we headed out to our launch party. As promised, we didn’t sleep much, but it was well worth it.

No rest for the wicked…we attended App Camp 2007 hosted by Video Egg at their office on Saturday which was a great time (especially the alcohol-fueled after party at Tres Agaves). It will continue to be a busy week for us…going to the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment conference here in SF this week to move forward with our mobile strategy and will be attending numerous meetings as well.

In party news, heading down to San Diego on Friday to host a big Halloween party down there (gotta get the word out down South as well), coming back the next morning for another Halloween party we’re hosting in SF and will be capped off by a big MadeIt.com bash on Halloween night to further promote the site (and have a good time while doing it). I know…life is rough. Now that we’ve gotten the basic version of our site out, we’ll be focusing on hosting a lot of events to keep the momentum going.

Thanks to TechCrunch and VentureBeat for the write-ups this week. Check out the links below in case you missed them:

Alright everybody, I’m going to keep responding to these emails, make sure to check out the Aftermath for pics and vids from our launch party. I’ll keep you posted with further info.

Just wanted to welcome everybody to the site that is visiting via press we have received in the last couple of days. We are very proud to be launching the first beta version of our site.

From now until the launch this Thursday Oct. 18th, the access is limited to invitation-only view for the launch party, thus the registration is disabled until Thursday. Once we launch on Thursday afternoon, I encourage all of you to sign up for the site, create a profile and start sending out invites.

Bear with us, you’ll probably notice a few bugs in the system once it is open for public use this Thursday, but the goal was to get the product released and build out the site based on user feedback and get the bare bones version out there for everybody to use. We’ll be consuming unhealthy amounts of caffeine in the meantime in order to reduce those aforementioned potential bugs. Because we are self-funded, any caffeine donations are encouraged to get us through this period. We will accept coffee, straight espresso, all forms of energy drinks, and even trucker pills (c’mon we’re a startup, we’ll take what we can get).

Any suggestions you have on ways we can upgrade the site with any of your feedback would be greatly appreciated, so we encourage you to contact us with any suggestions/wisdom/advice to help us achieve our goal of supplanting the current online invitation options in order to help you throw the best events.

As mentioned in the press, we are currently self-funded and will be seeking an angel round of financing in the next few months in order to get to the proof of concept stage, so we encourage any investors interested in what we’re doing to contact us as well. Contact us at: info@madeit.com

Thanks for visiting, enjoy the invitation…

What’s up everybody…this is Tom, co-founder of MadeIt.com. It has taken me a while to get this blog up and running, the days (and nights) have been really busy and now that we’re about ready to release our site to the public, I figure what better time than now to give you some insight into the inner-workings of MadeIt.com.

First things first…the MadeIt.com team loves a good party…thus, we created a site tailored for the social needs of our generation. This site was created due to the current lack of a suitable online invitation service that could reach the magnitude of the parties my friends and I had been throwing. The antiquated alternatives of the current landscape were a disconnect from what we were looking for. Thus, we wanted to go many steps further than the current online invite options and throw our unique blend of creativity, energy and youth to achieve this goal. Hence, MadeIt.com was created.

Another deficiency we noticed from current online invitation services is that once the party was over, the invitation disappeared into a virtual black abyss . Our goal is to keep the party going, thus we created a feature called The Aftermath, where fellow party-goers can interact with each other after the party by sharing photos and videos, telling stories about the party and by making new friends.

We are very excited to be getting our site out there for the public to use. Although this is version 0.9 and there are many features we’re going to add, we decided to get the site out there, get some feedback and let the evolution of online invitations begin.

Special thanks to all of our friends who have allowed us to host a series of parties in the past few weeks leading up to our public launch. We have had some really fun times while building the site and hosting parties, capped off by an extremely successfully Fleet Week rooftop party in San Francisco that we co-hosted last weekend along with Rockstar Energy Drink. The Blue Angels were in full effect and I believe there may have been a record set for the amount of alcohol consumed on one rooftop during a single day! It was a great time and we look forward to keeping it up and hosting plenty of more parties of that caliber in the months ahead.

Enjoy the site, I’ll be keeping all of you updated on the progress. If you are planning a party in the near future, be sure to use MadeIt.com after our launch date: Thursday, October 18th.

If you have any questions for me, feel free to email me directly at tom@madeit.com

Thanks,

Tom O’Brien
